On Campus
Borrowing Books
Students will be able to borrow physical books at the circulation desk and via no-touch self-checkout machines. All returned books will be quarantined for the appropriate interval before being reshelved.
Books from the law library stacks and annex have a 16-week checkout period. Renewals are not allowed.
Returning Books
If you have library books in your possession from last year, please return them to the library upon your return to campus. If you are not returning to campus this fall, please contact Louise Choate (lchoate@fordham.edu) for further information.
Off Campus
Borrowing materials when I’m off campus
Please note: The Maloney Library will not ship required textbooks or any item marked Reserve/Course Reserve in the catalog, nor can we accept interlibrary loan requests for these materials. Please visit the library catalog to find out if an item is available as an ebook or via Controlled Digital Lending (CDL).
To qualify for our mail service, students must:
- NOT be taking any course where they are required to be on-campus
- reside in the United States
- have a residential address for shipping, not a P.O. Box
- have an ILLiad account
To request a physical book from the Maloney Library, please fill out the Online Request Form.
We strongly encourage you to first request book chapters and articles before making a request for a book to be mailed to you. Requests for articles and book chapters from items available in the Maloney Library, that are not available online, can be made through the Law Library’s Law ILLiad system. See Using Law ILLiad. The Library will generally deliver book chapter and article requests via email.
If you are requesting book chapters, articles or books from outside libraries, please also do so through your ILLiad account.
If you decide to use our mail service, you will be limited to 10 shipped books at any one time. The 10 book limit includes both Maloney Library books and books from outside libraries (including other Fordham libraries) via ILL.

A prepaid return label will be provided. Books have a 16-week checkout period, but are subject to immediate recall. Renewals are not allowed.
