Complete the Procertas Word Trainer and enter to win prizes!
Thank you for your interest in the Procertas Challenge. For the Spring 2020 semester, the Challenge is open only to 1Ls. The deadline to complete the Word Trainer is February 7, 2020.
What is Procertas?
Procertas is an online platform that helps users learn core office technology for lawyers: Word, Excel, and PDF. It is focused on tasks lawyers use most frequently.
For example, a user might be provided a marked-up contract as a Word document and asked to prepare it for execution (in a sequence of separate tasks) by turning off tracked changes, accepting all changes, deleting all comments, fixing numbering, updating cross-references, removing metadata, and converting to a PDF.
How do I win prizes?
- Be a 1L student at Fordham law.
- Complete the Word Trainer by February 7, 2020.
- That’s it!
Disclaimer: Prizes are subject to change based on availability and demand. Winners will be randomly selected.
Who can participate?
1Ls only for Spring 2020. All upper-class students will have opportunities to participate in upcoming semesters.
How do I get started?
You received an email from Procertas to activate your account. If you cannot find that email in your Fordham account, notify Janet Kearney at jkearney15@fordham.edu.
How does the Word Trainer work?
For step-by-step instructions, see this document, http://procertas.com/LTA_UserIntroduction.pdf. After you log in and prior to starting the Word Trainer, complete the tutorial that will show you the steps as well.
The basic method of the program is Download-Edit-Upload. You start a task by downloading one or more files. Upon download, task instructions will appear in the browser (e.g., turn off tracked changes). You open the document on your own computer and perform the task using your own software. You save, close, and upload the modified file. Once uploaded, the file is reviewed by the LTA’s grading engine.
The Trainer is essentially pass/fail. All you need to do is complete it.
Do I have to do everything at once?
No – There is a ‘Stop’ button in the Trainer. If you press it, you will be returned to the main Module screen. From there, you can continue where you left off whenever you are ready.
Do I have to do this at school?
No – you can complete this wherever you have access to the internet.
I have questions about how to complete the Trainer. Who do I ask?
Email our Procertas representative, Joe Colucci at jcolucci@procertas.com and CC librarian Janet Kearney, jkearney15@fordham.edu.
The program tells me I completed something wrong, but I’m sure it’s correct. Who do I talk to?
